StewMac Truss Rod Rescue Tool Sets

"Impossible" repairs become 15-minute money-makers!
Lots of guitar necks have been thrown out because of damaged truss rods. Repairing them seemed too complex and expensive, but that's changed: those repairs are now fast and profitable.

Our Truss Rod Rescue Tools clean up damaged threads, create new threads, and even rescue truss rods that have broken off completely.

Choose the Rescue Tool Set for your specific truss rod, or equip your shop with the Master Set for a wide range of truss rod repairs. Individual components are also sold separately.

How do you fix a broken truss rod?
You could remove the fingerboard, dig out the truss rod, replace it, reglue the board and refinish the neck. This is major surgery, and many customers can't afford it. As a result, good necks get scrapped. Now you can save those necks and offer your customers fast repairs. These tools quickly pay for themselves.

How it works

Here's a working truss rod. The adjusting nut turns on the threads without a lot of force.

The problem: The truss rod nut becomes cross-threaded, jams, or breaks off completely. The trouble is inside the cavity, out of reach.

The Relief Cutter fits over the damaged rod to remove a tiny amount of wood, revealing an unused section of truss rod.

The Thread Cutting Die cleans up damaged threads and cuts new threads on the exposed truss rod.

Add our metal spacer and reinstall the adjusting nut. This truss rod works like new.

For Gibson, Fender and more
Our set for Gibson fits the many brands that use a traditional 10-32 single-action truss rod. We have four sets for Fender, for a variety of heel-adjust and peghead-adjust necks. See the instructions for details.
