Marcelo Barbero was one of the leading makers of flamenco guitars, and he trained with Jose Ramirez II. After the death of Santos Hernandez, Barbero worked for Hernandez' widow, Mathilda Ruiz, in order to complete orders that had already been commissioned. This experience gave him a unique insight into the tools and working methods of the great Santos Hernandez, perhaps this was at least a partial influence on Barbero, whose flamenco guitars are still today regarded as some of the finest ever made.
