Botanical name: Diospyros ebonasea
Malaysian Blackwood belongs to the Ebony family, as it belongs to the Diospyoros genus.
It is characterised for its dark lines, in black or grey, which contrast with the reddish brown or green tones of the wood. Its unique colours and the attractive designs of its grain give it an extraordinary beauty.
Its density, approximately 1150kg/m3 (72 lbs/ft3), is greater than Rosewood’s and even higher than ebony. Malaysian Blackwood is an excellent tonewood.
